Red Sails at Newport

This 5x7" was done from a photo shot at sundown in Newport. The sky was very pink and reddish while the clouds were blue which occurs sometimes at that time of day. The sails incredibly mimicked the sky but were even more intense color. Sometimes you have to give thanks when you have your camera in your pocket at the right moment!

Waiting for Christmas

All around the Route 7 Connector, there are rocky ledges where the highway was cut through the landscape (it is very rocky and hilly here in Connecticut). As time went by, little trees and vegetation began to spring up beautifying where there are small pockets of soil on the ledges around the area. The red garland, of course, is my addition/vision as I was waiting in traffic, looking up at these spunky little furs, the snow and thinking about Christmas coming.

Have a very very merry holiday, which ever is your own special one. And here is my wish to everyone for the best ever year in 2009, one to surpass all the years past!! Yes, my wish is that it "Just Keeps Getting Better and Better".

Happy Birthday Kristyann

There is almost nothing my friend Kristyann likes better than a cup of coffee. This little 6x6" oil on archival canvas is her birthday cupcake (contains no carbs or calories!), with a cup of coffee. Soon we will be celebrating her birthday and I'll give her this remembrance.

Candy for Jack

My nephew Jack is not a real candy lover, but who can resist M&Ms?? Tia Kwan Do and computer games are his love. But, I think he will enjoy the colors in this little 6x6" oil on archival canvas.

Pink Cupcake for Emily

Our little Emily loves pinks and purples, hence the Pink Cupcake. She is such a girly girl...very feminine and so I've tried to make this a cupcake that would appeal to that taste. This is a Christmas present but also reflects her birthday which is shortly after Christmas. Again a 6x6" oil on archival canvas.

Chocolate Chips for Andrew

Andrew is my oldest nephew, a Senior in High School! He runs the concession shop at school among his many other endeavors -- and one of the items they carry are chocolate chips cookies, made by his mother. Andrew is quite the entrepreneur and we are all expecting great things from Andrew. This is a 6x6" painting on archival canvas.

Lipstick for Niki

Wracking my brain for what would please a teen girl and came up with this image for another adorable niece, Niki. Another Christmas gift in the 6x6" format on archival canvas. I'm including little wooden easels so these gifts can be put on a dresser or of course hung if desired.

Oreos for Matt

What guy does not love milk and cookies? This is a Christmas gift for a favorite nephew, Matt. His mother makes the best in the world chocolate chip cookies, but somehow the coloring of an Oreo with milk reminds me of Matt, who has black hair and his mother's fair skin and hazel eyes. Another 6x6" format on archival stretched canvas.

I've been using a black gesso on my small works and leaving the sides black...the black ground makes me use heightened color and the contrasted black sides are very attractive. Almost looks like these little pieces are framed.

Starburst for Maggie

A Christmas gift for one of my adorable nieces, Maggie! Her favorite candy is actually expensive chocolates - her Dad brings them home from work - but I wanted to give her a colorful painting, hence the Starburst. Another 6x6" on stretched archival canvas.

Very Last Tulip

Just one more of the tulips still hanging in...and I had to memorialize it. Again a little hint of Spring. Hope you enjoy it as much as I loved painting it.

Green Pear with Red Plumbs (6x6")

Here is another still life of that pleasant combination of pears and plumbs. Enjoy!

If you would like to keep up with my current paintings, send your email address to mlynch8@optonline.net and you will be added to my distribution list and receive paintings in your in-box.

Last Tulips (5x7")

It is kind of interesting to see the change in my pallet now that the tulips are on the wane. The leaves are more yellow and the tulips themselves fading. A stark contrast to the preceding tulip painting. Thought some explanation about my sporadic posting to this blog...I scan my paintings so they must be dry before I can make a jpeg and upload them. I usually have to wait several days and often two or three will be dry together. This is why you sometimes see several paintings posted in one day and then several days without a post.

If you would like to see my newest paintings in your In-Box, please send your email to mlynch8@optonline.net and you will be added to my distribution list. Cheers!

Tulip No. 2

Another of these perky little tulips...the herald of Spring. I am not anxious to speed through the Winter, but it has been so dreary these last few days in the Northeast, that a cheerful little Spring flower is very uplifting.

Yellow Pepper

Just as the previous post (Red Pepper), this yellow pepper was fun to paint...and delicious to eat! Another unusual pallet for me, the yellow against the lavender background struck me as a good match. Hope you agree.

If you would like to receive these little paintings in your email, send your address to mlynch8@optonline.net.

Red Pepper

This giant pepper was a great model...and delicious too. The pallet is unusual for me, I don't usually favor grey being a huge fan of bright color, but the deep reds and greys are complementary...hope you agree.

Littlest Tulip

We have been having a couple of dreary overcast days here in the Northeast and that makes me think of Spring. I spotted a bunch of little tulips at the Korean grocer that were a cheerful reminder of Spring and just what I wanted to paint. Spring will come...but until then, here is a little taste of it.

The Orange Pepper

This was so beautiful it had to be painted before consumption! Good healthy "fast food". 6x6" on archival stretched canvas.

If you would like to see more of my daily paintings, send me your email address, mlynch8@optonline.net, and you will receive a copy of the little paintings as I complete them. It is fun to receive and delete, waiting for the next one to arrive.

Green Chilies No. 2

In my older posts, you will see another painting of chilies which is a different style. This 6 x 6" painting shows brush strokes and is a more free rendition of the subject. An interesting comparison.

If you would like to see my daily paintings in an email sent directly to you, please forward your email address to mlynch8@optonline.net, to be added to the distribution list.

The Plump Pear

This pear was so plump it kept falling on its side...a different view. Hope you find it as interesting as I did. A pleasure to paint!

If you would like to see my Daily Paintings, send your email address to mlynch8@optonline.net and I will put you on my list. It is fun to open an email with an image and keep up with my work. They then can be deleted so as not to burden your computer and another will soon arrive.

Broc on a Cloud

Another painting continuing the Veggies in the Sky series. As stated in an earlier post, these are inspired by a visit to the Louve where I was so impressed by the beautiful paintings of Saints ascending in the sky toward heaven. This series began with larger paintings of ascending vegetables which you can see on my website and now are being done in the smaller format of 6 x 6".

If you would like to receive my Daily Paintings in your email, please forward your address to mlynch8@optonline.net. I paint a variety of subjects and it is fun to see the latest. Thanks for your interst!

Red Pear with Plumbs

Another study with plumbs and a pear, this time using luscious deep reds. Hope you enjoy it!

CAULI ON A CLOUD

CAULI ON A CLOUD - A daily painting 5 x 7" on archival gallery wrap stretched canvas ready to hang or frame. Another one of the still life in the sky series. Although my painting style is very different, dare I say I am beginning to see a relation to Magreet's various sky paintings. This painting is on eBay auction also. Search on the eBay site under category "Art", plug in "A Painting A Day - Lynch", and it will come up. Hope you enjoy the painting.

FLYING PUMPKINS

FLYING PUMPKINS - A daily painting 6 x 6" on archival gallery wrap stretched canvas ready to hang or frame. Another of my still life in the sky series. As below, after a visit to the Louve, where I fell in love with huge paintings of saints ascending into heaven...I had to do some sky and clouds. Hence, my fruit and veggies in the sky paintings. This painting is on eBay auction too. Just search under category "Art", plug in "A Painting A Day - Lynch", and it will come up. Hope you enjoy the painting.

ARTICHOKE IN SKY

In a visit to the Louve, I fell in love with the backgrounds of paintings of saints ascending to heaven (they are in the same room as the Mona Lisa). This is the first in a series of little paintings of ascending fruit and veggies, combining my love for those breathtaking sky and cloud paintings at the Louve with still life. ARTICHOKE IN SKY, is a daily painting 6 x 6" on archival gallery wrap stretched canvas ready to hang or frame. For any questions, please email me mlynch8@optonline.net or call 203.762-8564. If you wish to purchase this painting, it is on eBay...search category "Art", "A Painting A Day - Lynch".

Chair With Blue Hat

Another remembrance of summer...this is a hat that was used to shield from the summer sun when weeding. The black chair by the door made the perfect place to sling it after fiinishing the chore and made it easily available for the next time it was needed.

Green Squash With Egg

Alas, summer is gone and the ingredients for one of my favorite omelets not as readily available. This painting reminds me of summer.

What have I been doing since my last post???

This collage (Seal 001) has been selected for the Joyce and Bob Jones award!

Diligently working on my larger collages. Two of them have been accepted into the 28th Annual Faber Birren Color Show which was juried by a curator from MOMA! WOW, is my head swollen. Thought I would share the two pieces.

Chilies

This is another 6 x 6" Small Work on gallery wrap canvas. The greens of these two little peppers were so complementary, the pallet just developed very naturally. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers! SOLD

Mr. Peanut Bank

This small work is of the back view of a tiny old Mr. Peanut Bank. It measures 4 x 6" and is an original oil on gallery stretched canvas. This subject was so much fun to paint...hope you enjoy it!

Purple Cabbage

This small work speaks for itself. It is another original oil on gallery wrap stretched canvas measuring 6 x 6".

Green Pepper

The black backgrounds of the two previous Small Works are classic, but the feeling was a lighter color would enhance the dark green of the pepper. The little tip of light showing through the bottom of the pepper keeps it from being seated well, but it was there and so charming I could not take artistic license and change it. It is 6x6" on gallery wrapped canvas. Enjoy!

First Small Work Posting May 1, 2008

Welcome my friend.
This is my debut into the world of blogging. The purpose is to display my daily paintings for your enjoyment and should you see one you want to purchase, provide that ability for you. Much more work is to be done, i.e. setting up an account with eBay and learning how to distribute the blog. So, for now consider this blog "under construction" and enjoy this sample small work. More to come...
