Red Sails at Newport

This 5x7" was done from a photo shot at sundown in Newport. The sky was very pink and reddish while the clouds were blue which occurs sometimes at that time of day. The sails incredibly mimicked the sky but were even more intense color. Sometimes you have to give thanks when you have your camera in your pocket at the right moment!

Waiting for Christmas

All around the Route 7 Connector, there are rocky ledges where the highway was cut through the landscape (it is very rocky and hilly here in Connecticut). As time went by, little trees and vegetation began to spring up beautifying where there are small pockets of soil on the ledges around the area. The red garland, of course, is my addition/vision as I was waiting in traffic, looking up at these spunky little furs, the snow and thinking about Christmas coming.

Have a very very merry holiday, which ever is your own special one. And here is my wish to everyone for the best ever year in 2009, one to surpass all the years past!! Yes, my wish is that it "Just Keeps Getting Better and Better".

Happy Birthday Kristyann

There is almost nothing my friend Kristyann likes better than a cup of coffee. This little 6x6" oil on archival canvas is her birthday cupcake (contains no carbs or calories!), with a cup of coffee. Soon we will be celebrating her birthday and I'll give her this remembrance.

Candy for Jack

My nephew Jack is not a real candy lover, but who can resist M&Ms?? Tia Kwan Do and computer games are his love. But, I think he will enjoy the colors in this little 6x6" oil on archival canvas.

Pink Cupcake for Emily

Our little Emily loves pinks and purples, hence the Pink Cupcake. She is such a girly girl...very feminine and so I've tried to make this a cupcake that would appeal to that taste. This is a Christmas present but also reflects her birthday which is shortly after Christmas. Again a 6x6" oil on archival canvas.

Chocolate Chips for Andrew

Andrew is my oldest nephew, a Senior in High School! He runs the concession shop at school among his many other endeavors -- and one of the items they carry are chocolate chips cookies, made by his mother. Andrew is quite the entrepreneur and we are all expecting great things from Andrew. This is a 6x6" painting on archival canvas.

Lipstick for Niki

Wracking my brain for what would please a teen girl and came up with this image for another adorable niece, Niki. Another Christmas gift in the 6x6" format on archival canvas. I'm including little wooden easels so these gifts can be put on a dresser or of course hung if desired.

Oreos for Matt

What guy does not love milk and cookies? This is a Christmas gift for a favorite nephew, Matt. His mother makes the best in the world chocolate chip cookies, but somehow the coloring of an Oreo with milk reminds me of Matt, who has black hair and his mother's fair skin and hazel eyes. Another 6x6" format on archival stretched canvas.

I've been using a black gesso on my small works and leaving the sides black...the black ground makes me use heightened color and the contrasted black sides are very attractive. Almost looks like these little pieces are framed.

Starburst for Maggie

A Christmas gift for one of my adorable nieces, Maggie! Her favorite candy is actually expensive chocolates - her Dad brings them home from work - but I wanted to give her a colorful painting, hence the Starburst. Another 6x6" on stretched archival canvas.
